Chapter One

Bonnie Tyler's 1980s hit 'Total Eclipse of the heart' blasted through the headphones of 16 year old Toni Yeager's ipod. She has always been a fan of old rock songs but this has always been a favorite of hers. She sat in the front seat of her mother's old car trying to ignore the crying of her little sister in the backseat.
"Mommy are we there yet?" wined Toni's little sister Joey Ann, blowing her short blond hair out of her eyes with a huff. "You asked that 5 minutes ago and the answer is the same. NO," replied her mother calmly from the seat next to Toni.

"Mom I think it’s my turn to sit in the front Toni has been sitting there the whole car ride and that’s been 3 hours," complained Toni's twin brother Dominic from the seat right behind Toni.
"When we get to the next rest stop."
"But mommy," he wined.
"Dominic...," she warned.
"Fine," he said resentfully.
"Haha," Toni said sticking her tongue out at her brother.
"Toni Andrea Yeager I'll pull over on the side of the highway if you pester your brother anymore." cautioned her mother.
"Fine..."
30 minutes and some arguing later they pull into a rest stop.
"Mommy, I'm hungry," Joey Ann cried kl
"Toni you have money go get your sister some food," yelled her mom
"Mom all my money is to by books. I don't want to by stupid French fries or whatever she wants with my money," Toni wailed.
"Dominic?"
"No way do you really think I have any money."
"Fine," Their mother gave their Joey Ann 2 bucks to run and get a snack.
"Hey Dom, Why'd we move?" Toni questioned
"Mom has a moving obsession."
"No but she was really getting alone with Derek and then Bam we up and left."
"She's afraid of love you just answered your own question."
"Yeah I guess I did."
"Okay everyone time to go," yelled their mom.
They got into their car with Dominic in the front. They drove for about an hour then pulled up in front of a really nice house. It looked to have about 2 floors and was white with a black roof. When they looked around the neighborhood they saw that most of the houses were really nice. Not like the typical houses they lives in.

"Hey your new right?" asked a girl who looked to be about Toni and Dominic's age maybe a little younger.
The whole family turned around but it was Dominic who talked:
"Yeah we're new. I'm Dominic. This is Toni. This is Joey Ann and this is our mom," he said pointing to each person when he said their name.
"Awesome I'm K.C. and I live right there," and she pointed to the house right next door.
"Thanks. Yours is too."
"Yea thanks."
"So you guys going to Penn High?"
"Umm yea, right mom?" asked Toni directing this question to her mom.
"You guys start Tomorrow, Monday."
"Awesome. What grade are you guys in?"
"10th grade," said Dominic. "What about you?"
"O I'm a freshman but I take upperclassman courses."
"So you’re going to be in some of our classes."
"Yep."
"K.C. are you finished taking out the garbage? Its time for Dinner," yelled K.C.’s mom
"Kay mom be in in a minute."
"Well nice meeting you guys, see you tomorrow at school."
"Nice meeting you too K.C."
"Bye." and with that said she ran into her house and yelled up to her brother. Her brother Jason tried to ignore his younger sister's constant annoyance but this time he couldn't. He walked down the rickety stairs of his home and into the kitchen.
“What do you want K.C.?” he sighed.
“Our new neighbors moved in,” she replied.
“Oh, yippi!” he said flailing his arms around in head in false excitement.
“Yeah and get this: there’s a girl and she’s your age!”
“You know that I don’t date,”

”But she’s perfect for you,” K.C. said, a frown forming on her face.
“Fine, I’ll meet this one girl but only for you, okay?”
“Yey!” she yelled and gave him a sisterly hug. 5 minutes later she was dragging him across their yard to the Yeager’s new home.
“Okay, what’s her name again?”
“It’s Toni.”
“Okay.”
“Don’t do anything to humiliate you or me.”
“I won’t, I promise.” The walked up to the Yeager’s door and rang the doorbell.
“Hello?” a face peeked out from behind the door. It was Toni.
“Toni, this is my brother Jason. Jason this is Toni, the girl I was telling you about.” Toni smiled at Jason and Jason knew from that moment on things would never be the same.
